Begin your journey early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel around 4:00 AM. You will travel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle toward the Red Sea mountains. Before reaching the first monastery, you’ll pass through the heart of the desert.
Your first stop is the Monastery of St. Anthony, where the early Christian hermit St. Anthony lived in a cave on a 680-meter-high mountain over 1,600 years ago. A staircase of around 1,000 steps leads to his cave, offering breathtaking views of the mountains and sea.
Next, visit the Monastery of St. Paul, built above the cave where St. Paul the Hermit lived and died in the 4th century AD. Both monasteries feature ancient churches, bakeries, and mills used by monks for self-sustained living.
After the monastery visits, enjoy a local lunch at a nearby restaurant before returning to Hurghada. You will arrive back at your hotel around 5:00 PM.
